Save yourself starting problems in the Spring - Protect your engine

A lot of gardeners have been there, Spring has sprung and it's time for the first cut of the year. You're finally in the mood for mowing, and you find your mower won't start. It's frustrating! You may have also experienced this problem with 2-stroke machines, such as chainsaws and strimmers. But there is a simple way to prevent this - protect your engines by using fuel stabilisers.

You may not be aware that unleaded petrol can 'go off' within 2-3 months of coming from the pump and your 2-stroke mix can separate just as quickly. Fuel will go off in containers and if garden machinery is left with fuel in over time this will also happen, causing starting problems the next time you go to use the machine. Thankfully, we have some products which can help you.

Lawnmowers and other 4-stroke machines
Add Briggs & Stratton Fuel Fit to your unleaded fuel as soon as you get it home from the petrol station. 100ml of fuel fit will treat 10L of fuel, stabilising it for up to 3 years. Not only will this ensure easy starting every time you go to use your machine, but it also provides an internal coating which prevents corrosion and dirt build-up inside the engine.

2 Stroke machines (Chainsaws, strimmers, etc.)
If you have a 2 stroke machine which requires a 50:1 fuel mix, such as Stihl and Husqvarna, Stihl Motomix is the product for you. Motomix is a pre-mixed fuel which doesn't go off for at least 2 years, it isn't harmful to internal engine parts and also creates much cleaner fumes than a standard mix. Have a machine which has a different mix ratio? Add Briggs & Stratton Fuel Fit to your petrol before adding 2 stroke oil for the same benefits. By the way, shaking your old mix up doesn't 're-mix' it - if your fuel is older than 3 months, start a fresh.
